Floating solar park Breels (DE)
In the first half of 2026, Solinoor is working on a floating solar park near Breels in Germany, developed in collaboration with Heeren-Herkener Kiesbaggerei GmbH. For this project on a sand extraction lake, we carried out the full project development in close cooperation with our German partners, from energy analysis and design to the permit application.
The solar park will have a capacity of approximately 1.6 MWp and will consist of around 2,600 solar panels. The installation is fully tailored to the sand extraction company’s own energy demand and will therefore provide 100% self-consumption. By making smart use of the water surface of the sand extraction lake, sustainable energy is generated without placing additional pressure on scarce land resources.

Project phase & milestones
After the successful completion of a smooth development and permitting phase, construction of the floating solar park will start in March 2026. During this phase, the floating system will be assembled, the solar panels will be installed, and the electrical infrastructure will be implemented and connected.
Completion is scheduled for June 2026. From that moment on, the solar park will directly contribute to the energy supply of the sand extraction operations and will mark an important step in further improving the sustainability of the company’s activities.
The Power of Floating Solar Energy
Floating solar parks are rapidly gaining ground in Germany and demonstrate strong potential for the future. Using water surfaces for solar energy prevents additional land use on agricultural areas, nature reserves, or urban space, offering a sustainable solution in regions where available land is scarce.
Floating PV systems are highly flexible and can be adapted to different types of water bodies, as well as to specific site conditions and energy demands. Successful implementation requires a thorough analysis of technical, ecological, economic, and legal factors. When approached holistically, floating solar energy can make a significant contribution to the further decarbonization of the energy supply.
