Floating solar park Zaltbommel

In the industrial area of Zaltbommel, a floating solar park will be built on a water retention pond. On the 5th of December, 2022, Solinoor and Coöperatie Duurzaamheid Bedrijventerreinen Zaltbommel signed the contract for the floating solar park Zaltbommel. The construction will be initiated at the beginning of Q2 2023 and the solar park will be built over the following months. The project encompasses a total of 4683 panels, the equivalent of 2.5 MWp renewable solar energy. The produced energy will be used to power the business park.

By using the water area of the retention pond in this industrialised zone, additional renewable energy can be generated to make the business park more sustainable. Besides, the integration of floating solar strengthens the purpose of the water retention pond by reducing water evaporation and improving water quality.

Milestones

December 5, 2022 - Contract signed

On December 5, 2022, Solinoor and Coöperatie Duurzaamheid Bedrijventerreinen Zaltbommel signed the contract for the floating solar park Zaltbommel. By signing the agreement, we can work cooperatively to reach our sustainable aspirations by making industries more sustainable with the use of renewable energy.

June 2, 2023 - Transformer station placement

Over the previous months, the team has worked hard to finalise the preparations for the construction of the floating solar park. Now that the construction of the solar park has been initiated, we can now celebrate our first major milestone with the transformer station being installed.

July 10, 2023 - Anchoring

In preparation for the floating solar island to be placed, the anchoring works have been done. By placing over 90 concrete blocks, a robust foundation has been layed out to keep the floating solar park in place in all weather conditions.

August 14, 2023 - Start floating platform

The construction of the floating solar platform has been started whereby the floaters, PV panels, and DC cables are assembled. After the assembly of the arrays, the block which is then moved into the water and anchored in place.

August 23, 2023 - Platform placement

The assembled blocks of the floating solar platform are moved to its designed locations. Once at its location, the blocks are anchored in place and connected together to form one solid platform.

September 8, 2023 - Platform complete

The floating solar platform is now fully built and anchored in place. The final step is connecting the last few cables with the inverters and transformer station.
